Saturday Morning 12th November

‘Persistent heavy rain’ is forecast for Saturday, although that won’t deter the Joggers, of course! However they are not the best conditions for a long run, so this one is again only 9.5 miles and we should keep our feet mainly dry, even if it entails running down Spithandle Lane!

Gunpowder Trot – Horsham Fun Run 6th Nov 16

20161106_105320

14 Henfield Joggers completed the inaugural Horsham Joggers Gunpowder Trot this morning.  A very hilly but scenic course of 4.5 miles enlivened by some cows attempting to join the race!  A few of us were still suffering marathon legs after last weeks Beachy Head (well that’s my excuse anyway!).  Congratulations to Ashleigh Bradley for completing her first WSFRL event and thanks to Andy James for organising our team entry.

Saturday Morning 5th November

Remember Remember the 5th of November!!!!

I suggest a route around Lock Farm on Saturday. This one is less than 10 miles, so may appeal to those who are still deliberating about doing a Saturday morning run! I’ve got a cold and, although it’s not man flu, I may not be there. If not, I am sure Mark or Brian will devise a route.

Reopening public right of way – Alan Barwick

Message from Alan Barwick

We are trying to get the track, between A & B on the map in the attached document, from Dunstalls via Dagbrook Lane, and under the railway arch designated as a public right of way.

Joggers will have noticed, I am sure, that in recent months the access has been blocked. The forms can be returned to me at:

Alan Barwick, 6, Croft Villas, Church Street,

or Graham du Heaume at 33, The Hooks.

Saturday Morning 15th October

Hi guys, firstly apologies for the quality of the route map, but my digital mapping system doesn’t extend as far east as Cuckmere Haven. However you will see that the intention is to join up with the marathon route in Friston Forest approximately where you left it a few weeks ago [further apologies for not joining you on that occasion]. The distance is similar to BHM1 (ie: around 14.5 miles), but there is no climbing of the Sisters involved, although there’s no denying the ascent out of Alfriston and the steps in the Forest are tough (The Stairway to Heaven). It’s going to be a great run, followed [hopefully] by the Seagulls winning at the Amex! Meet at HLC at 7.30am – cars will be arranged but we need to drive to Exceat so we need to start a little earlier!

Anyone not fancying the seven sisters part 2 on Saturday – is welcome to join a shorter run with Lorna around PG. The plan is to do around 6 miles, which will be cross country but on good ground. Start at 9:30 and meet up in PG village Hall car park. ?

Winter Running Programme for Wednesdays

Sadly summer is over. Sigh! However the winter season is now launched, with each month containing a handicap run, a coaching session, a group run from Henfield Leisure Centre, and a pub run from somewhere not too far away from Henfield and where mud is minimised (Hugh won’t guarantee minimal!). So there should be something for everyone, and what do we like? FUN!!

You can find the schedule here and I will work to create links to all the pubs over the next few days.

Please let Hugh have any feedback or comments.

Saturday Morning 1st October

Hi guys, I understand there is no kayaking tomorrow and, as have a bad back at present, I am not starting something I can’t finish, i.e. suggesting a route of 10 miles or more. However moderate exercise is good, so I will be at HLC at 8am, as usual, walking, jogging and maybe even running slowly. In any event, please don’t mention the ‘r’ word!

If anyone wants a really long run, I understand Caroline, Amanda, and Les plan to do 20 miles on Sunday morning from Partridge Green……..
