Saturday Morning Run 6th April

This is my suggested route on Saturday. It’s about 8.5 miles and I will be taking it slowly! Anyone not running the Brighton who would like a longer run, can easily extend it.

As always, any queries to: hugh@39westhaven.freeserve.co.uk

Change to ‘Club Night’

Another great night at the Bell last night!  Thanks to all who came along to enjoy the eating, drinking and chatting.

We have decided to make the Bell our regular monthly meeting place. So whether you run the Handicap, an alternative route, or even if you don’t run at all – put the 1st Wednesday of the month in your diary and come along.  Food is served from approx 8.30pm – or you are more than welcome to just join us for a drink.  We will of course send out reminders and check out who wants food a week or so before

A big well done to all who completed the Handicap Run last night, whether it was the summer or winter route – or those that did the ‘extended route’!!

Remember the pub runs start next week – Wednesday 10th April .  Meet at The Bull Shermanbury at 7.00pm

See you there!

Ten Green Bottles Social Event Review

Saturday 30th March saw a small group of us leave village life and venture into Brighton. The 17 Bus provided a nice catch-up time on the way down and many took advantage of some nice mooch time in Brighton before reconvening at Ten Green Bottles (www.tengreenbottles.com/wine-tasting-brighton) for our wine tasting. The atmosphere there was immediately welcoming and informal. Over a longer period than we anticipated we tasted 3 white and 3 red wines and discovered some delicious new gems that none of us had come across before. Learning had never been so much fun! Although there were only 7 of us, all thoroughly enjoyed and seemed enthusiastic about trying something different. The Brighton Food Festival provided some very welcome street food before the bus journey home – the latter somewhat noisier than on the way down!!

Lewes 10k

Well done to the 4 of us who competed in a cold and windy Lewes 10k on Easter Monday. Sadly Ben withdrew to protect an existing injury but Joyce, Brian T, Paul and Andy trotted around. I say trotted, but Andy positively RACED around and finished 10th overall out of 483 finishers, in a stonking 38:56! Bear in mind this is an offroad race with mixed terrain and a little (not much this year) mud too, what could he do on the flat? Worthing 10k Andy??? I don’t know when we had a better individual result!
