It was a rather cold run, I think the ford was unusually popular for once, as there wasn’t too much water flowing and the muddy track to the bridge at the side looked pretty uninviting! I’m not too quick at the moment, but I was happy with my time in the circumstances.

Brighton Marathon 2014 in aid of Fight for Sight
Fight for Sight are looking to fill my places in the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 6 April 2014, and want to know whether anyone would be interested in taking part in this run and raise money for Charity.
Fight for Sight is the leading UK Charity that funds medical research in to a variety of eye diseases. Money that is raised through events goes directly to medical research in the hope that we will create a future where everyone can see. They don’t have a registration fee and ask for a minimum sponsorship pledge of £500 per runner.
Anyone interested should email: luan@fightforsight.org.uk

Saturday Morning – 15th November

comments from various people I am unable to do much more than quote Hughs Facebook comment – “What a fab morning for a run. Nearly 13 miles in glorious sunshine with the usual non-stop banter. If I hadn’t got my feet wet early on due to an interesting change in the route, I felt I could have run a lot further.” (Actually it was 13.1 miles – at least it was from MY house – Ed). The sunshine was bright, the day freezing, only just on 0c when we set out, but Terry still found time to demonstrate his amazing, incredible Hula prowess in Sayers Common!
West Sussex Fun Run League 2013 Final Positions
It seems like a long time since the Hangover 5 on January 1st, but finally the last race is over and the Club rankings can be announced.
Sadly, Henfield Joggers finished 17th out of 17 Clubs, as you can see from the table below. Despite the finest efforts of Mick Dee, whom I’d like to highlight here as the most regular participant, thanks Mick!!, we simply didn’t have enough people taking part to make a difference. I’ll make a proper report at the AGM but lets look to next year and see if we can move away from propping everyone up!

There is another way of looking at this, in terms of year on year improvements. The Table below shows that while we didn’t ‘improve’ on our 2012 performance, we didn’t slip back as much as some other Clubs, so we’re not ‘quite’ bottom! Lets turn this around in 2014. There are some changes being discussed at the WSFRL AGM soon which I will report on as soon as I am able to, most likely at our AGM.

Cycle Photo Gallery

Tina just sent me a photograph from the weekend ride, so I decided that rather than hiding the Cycle Group away in the ‘Miscellaneous’ Gallery, it was time to create a new Gallery purely for this Group. So, just click here to go straight to the Gallery!
If anyone has any images they’d like to add – you can just send them to me at enquiries@henfieldjoggers.co.uk and I’ll do the rest
End of Summer
It’s official – we have entered ‘that’ time of year when ‘cold, wet, windy, dark’ weather predominates. How do we know this?
The annual ‘Lowering of the Shorts’ has taken place, and we have moved from MST [Marks Shorts Time] to MLT [Marks Leggings Time]
The formal ceremony was held at the Leisure Centre at 8am on Sat 9th November in front of a select group of Joggers equipped with special ‘avert your eyes’ goggles. Our photographer was equipped with state of the art protection and was able to capture this shot before being overcome with emotion.
MST will formally be declared at some point in mid 2014 – special notices and ‘avert your eyes’ bulletins will of course be issued to protect sensitive souls from this upsetting event, and the usual ‘HJ Blindfold’ will be available
Marathon Draw(s)
I’d just like to let all members know that the Club has received ONE London Marathon entry, and TWO Brighton Marathon entries, to be allocated at the AGM according to the published guidelines. Fees will apply to whoever takes up the tickets
