Saturday Morning

My twin aims on Saturday are to avoid a lot of mud and to do a medium length run at a steady pace, although I appreciate those who didn’t do the Stinger last w/e may be looking for something different. If so, there are extra [in some cases muddy] loops that could be added to this route of about 10 miles. We are, of course, constrained by not being able to use Eatons Farm bridge – I have to admit some obstacles are insurmountable!

Who said insurmountable? You know us better than that See pics! Dave

Saturday Morning, 14th February

I suggest that this Saturday’s route is similar to the one we did a fortnight ago. This one is just over 9 miles, plus an optional 1.5 mile circuit of Cissbury. And anyone would who prefer a shorter run could omit the Steepdown section of about 3 miles. Let’s hope the weather is kinder this time!

Saturday Morning 31st January

I suggest we do the second half of the Stinger on Saturday – not only would it be helpful for those who are not familiar with the event, but it’s a change of scenery. We start where the SDW crosses the Bostal road and, as usual, run in an anticlockwise direction, apart from round Steepdown where the route goes clockwise.

Saturday Morning 24th January

Would be Steyning Stingers and other Spring marathoners need to crank up their mileage, so this route is about 14.5 miles, although, as usual, there are plenty of opportunities for shortcuts. The downside is you only get to run half of Spithandle Lane, rather than the whole length! Next week it’s the Downs….

Saturday Morning 3rd January

Something to look forward to on Saturday, maybe? My traditional start-of-marathon-training run. It’s about 14 miles and includes the whole length of Spithandle Lane! Happy New Year…

Saturday Morning 20th December

I suggest the Convent run on Saturday, although I think we should go out via Furners Lane to avoid the boggy fields behind Swains Farm – if I am going to get my feet wet, I prefer to do so at the end of a run, rather than at the start! The whole route is about 12.5 miles, but there various shortcuts if people would prefer a shorter run.

Saturday Morning 13th December

It’s forecast to be a sunny day on Saturday, fingers crossed, so it would be a pity not to do the ‘big hill’ aka Truleigh wouldn’t it, or would it? Anyway this is the slightly easier route, following the contours above Golding Barn. We can also follow the Downs Link, rather than the river bank, after Stretham Bridge, if we want to ensure we keep our feet dry until we get up on the Downs. No more than 14 miles in terms of distance, depending on route. Photo’s from the run can be found in the gallery here:

Saturday Morning 6th December

Looks like fine (but cold) weather tomorrow – so here’s the ever popular Poynings loop to play with……..next week, as an early heads up, at popular request we have a trip up Truleigh Hill planned – but that’s next week. Wrap up warm, it may be chilly, and come prepared for the high probability of Marks Tights seeing their first outing!

Saturday Morning 29th November

Nobody seems keen on a particularly long run this Saturday and some of us are still recovering from man flu, so I suggest this version of the Lock Farm route, using the dotted line along the Downs Link [the alternative was devised before the resurfacing north of Betley Bridge]. It’s only about 10.5 miles and inevitably contains some road [to avoid the mud] and some mud [to avoid the road]!
