Hove Park 5k

Well it was pretty warm out in Hove Park at noon on Sunday, I thought only Mad Dogs and Englishmen went ‘out in the midday sun’, well add ‘mad runners’ too! The results are at the bottom, so scroll down, but here are some comments, and photographs here – well done everyone!

Hove was really good – great display of green shirts and we reckon Michele did us a pretty good time as well (although she was playing it right down).  Thankfully there was a nice bit of coolish breeze and shade around the course and headed straight to the beach after.  Perfect day really.

And if, like me, you thought people were clutching cocktails in the group photo:

We thought (hoped) that and were disappointed to find they contained something called water ??!
Great day for all, very well organised event – Lesley and Nikki’s “first anniversary” run apparently.

CORRECTION! Revised Handicap Results……

Well it isn’t often that Results-meister Chris gets anything wrong, but after scrutinising the results he has realised that due to an entry error he had miscalculated the results – SO……..Nikki Hargrave was showing incorrectly – correcting this means that we now have a top 3 of Emma, NIKKI, and Michele! Belated well done to Nikki, now doesn’t that make next Wednesdays final Handicap before the summer break in July and August interesting! Corrected results are available here.

May’s Handicap Results are in!

Yes they’re in, the May Handicap results are here. And despite May being dominated by Katie, Tina, Louise and Many, the top four cumulatively are looking very tight – Liz in 4th place, Joint 2nd for Michele and Gill, but Emma continues to lead the way – Andy had been doing so well in the first months, but ‘that trip to India’ seems to have blown him off course! Can he recover later in the year – to quote a phrase “Its a marathon, not a sprint”, but we’ll have to see. All to play for though! (Enough of this! Ed)

Horsham 10K Results

On a hot and sunny Sunday most Joggers clearly had other things to do, as to the best of my knowledge only Ralph and Amanda braved the heat and sun to compete – but please let me know if you ran and aren’t listed.

Saturday Morning 17th May

With Mark in France, Hugh running an Ultra, and poor moi injured currently, I’m not sure what anyone wants to do on Saturday morning. However I recommend this 11 mile gem from the archives – you’ll probably ignore it anyway, but happy running! 🙂

Village Evening

Cathy and Alison and I ran our stand at the Village Evening last night. We did our best to promote the Club and recruit new members at this event, which takes place in the Village Hall every 4 years. All the Clubs and Associations have an opportunity to present themselves as local people wander about. The free drink was very welcome, and the new kit was proudly on display, as you can see. Whether any new members join is something we’ll have to wait and see, but we kept the flag flying for Henfield Joggers!

Saturday Morning 10th May

Well, it’s been left to me to choose this weeks route so I hope this suits. We all agreed on c10 miles, however the one that I originally chose was a ‘winter’ route containing more of that unpopular ‘road’ than desired, so after the Hughmeisters intervention here is the improved route, still more North/South rather than the more usual East/West of late!

Pub Run Frankland Arms

Another great turnout for last nights run, despite the presence of hills (which everyone accomplished, walking up hills is just fine!) – I did get some photographs as it was such a fine evening, in the Gallery
