Saturday Morning 1st October

Hi guys, I understand there is no kayaking tomorrow and, as have a bad back at present, I am not starting something I can’t finish, i.e. suggesting a route of 10 miles or more. However moderate exercise is good, so I will be at HLC at 8am, as usual, walking, jogging and maybe even running slowly. In any event, please don’t mention the ‘r’ word!

If anyone wants a really long run, I understand Caroline, Amanda, and Les plan to do 20 miles on Sunday morning from Partridge Green……..

Saturday Morning 13th August

I suggest the Truleigh aka ‘the Big Hill’ on Saturday. It’s 13 miles, but going up from Golding Barn is slightly easier than from the Cement Works and there should be few, if any, nettles or brambles! As usual, there are plenty of opportunities for short cuts.

Saturday Morning 11th June

I suggest the Convent Run this Saturday – it’s 12 or 13 miles, depending on the route, pretty flat and we have been known to call in at The Bull on the way home on warm days for liquid refreshment, i.e. water. As usual, there are plenty of opportunities for short cuts.

Saturday Morning 21st May

It’s forecast to be a bit damp on Saturday, so I suggest we avoid long grass and keep to tracks and even include short stretches of road. This route is about 12 miles, pretty flat and can be varied to keep to the Downs Link after Stretham Bridge or run through Tottington Woods [likely to be very muddy], rather than along the road to Edburton. Anyone not used to early Saturday morning runs should note the pace will be slower than on a Wednesday evening. Please ignore the D for drinks [I must have planned this route on a hot day!]

Saturday Morning 14th May

This is Saturday’s suggested route of about 11.5 miles. It’s pretty flat and we should see some of the later bluebells. I never quite know exactly where Brian takes us in order to avoid Spithandle, the Lane we all know and love [not]!

Saturday Morning 23rd April

It has to be bluebells, doesn’t it? There are various routes around West Grinstead and Spithandle, but this one is about 10 miles, so should appeal to most.

Saturday Morning 26th March

Morning guys. Happy Easter. This is tomorrow’s suggested route of about 12.5 miles. Once again, it’s pretty flat and we might even see some early bluebells. The dotted lines are alternatives if it’s very wet, one of which entails running the whole length of Spithandle Lane!

Summer Pub Schedule Confirmed

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I can now confirm the Summer ‘Where are we?’ Schedule for 2016 which you can find here. I hope it’s as successful as last year, I’ve made one or two changes here and there based on your comments. We get the light from this weekend when the clocks ‘spring forward’, all we need now is the weather! Bear in mind that it will still get dark before the end of our runs in April so please remember to bring a torch until it’s truly light! I am away for the first two pub runs, returning in time for The Bull on 20th April. Have fun!!

Saturday Morning 19th March

This is Saturday’s suggested route of about 11.5 miles [please note, whilst the distances are increasing, it’s only gradually!]. It’s pretty flat and, whilst avoiding any mud cannot be guaranteed, there shouldn’t be much of it. The run also passes Rob’s house, so he can stop there if he wishes, and finishes with the usual fun and games of negotiating the river.

Draft Summer Pub Run Schedule

Hi guys, well here it is – the provisional Spring/Summer run schedule! I think the Fun Run dates are right, but Lisa’s Coaching dates are subject to confirmation. You will see I’ve added the Black Horse at Nuthurst and the Gun Inn at Findon in place of the Frankland Arms at Washington that nobody seems to like and the Red Lion at Ashington that we found disappointing last year. I’ve also changed the sequence, so the runs are on more familiar ground when it will be getting dark towards the end of route. Comments and alternative suggestions are welcome, as usual. If you have any comments or feedback then please send them to me at: hugh@39westhaven.freeserve.co.uk
