Seven Stiles – 29 July 2018

Congratulations to all those who took part in the annual Seven Stiles Fun Run today.

With construction work on site and biblical downpours throughout the morning, there were more than a few challenges in getting the race organised and run but just about 400 people took part across the two races

The provisional results can be found on the West Sussex Fun Run League website here.

If anyone has any feedback on the Results then please email us at: sevenstiles@henfieldjoggers.co.uk

And last, but by NO means least! Thank you to ALL the Henfield Joggers, family and friends, who helped out today, and of course to Simon and his team at Henfield Leisure Centre without whom, quite simply, it would not be possible to hold this event!

Henfield Half Marathon Results 2017

Henfield Joggers News

A beautiful sunny day for this year’s Henfield Half Marathon. Perhaps a little warm for the runners, but lovely for the marshals and everyone watching on.

Andy took over laptop duties to produce the results. Any errors are likely due to being stuck away in a windowless office while everyone else was catching some rays.

Well done to all of those who took part, and thanks to those that helped support this event for Simon at the Henfield Leisure Centre.

Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon

Nothing like as popular as the Brighton, but on that same morning, Duncan and I turned up at Tunbridge Wells, bright & early (9 AM start!), for a race with rather more hill.

Lacking in much practice at that distance, we were both delighted to get around comfortably and respectably in:

Dave ENGLISH 1:56:02

Duncan BLACKBURN 1:56:33

Forest Row Race Report

Forest Row Scouts held a very well organised 5K & 10K fun run, to raise funds for their troop.

The route is along the Forest Way, a park adopted from a disused railway line.  This makes for a very level, straight out & back course.

It was cool on the morning & I was please to finish reasonably quickly.  Rachel Larking ran the 5K well.  She came with Helen, a friend, who also ran the 5k, as well as my wife.

A colleague has made an entertaining video of the 5K start: http://vimeo.com/108146921

Results were:

Dave English 10K  49:49

Rachel Larking 5K 28:17

(Ed: There’s also a slightly different video featuring Dave: http://vimeo.com/108147061…..he would never post this, but I would! And have!)

Great North Run 2014

The Great North Run completed a special year this Sunday, its one millionth finisher!  Several Joggers were there.

Here are the results I have:

DUNCAN BLACKBURN.     01:55:09

MICHAEL DEE.                02:43:56

DAVE ENGLISH               01:53:16

DEBORAH LOCKE.           02:15:21

SARAH JANE LOCKE        02:04:03

FIONA TURTON               02:15:47

It was an unexpectedly warm day, dry with a bit of a tail wind.  I did hear from someone that the One Millionth finisher was somewhere around 2:20, so sadly nearly all Joggers were too quick to have stood a chance of being that lucky individual.

As ever, I would strongly recommend this race to all Joggers. It is one of the largest half-marathons in the world, with the most fabulous atmosphere for all to enjoy.

Please indulge my including a few of my photos here.

Congratulations to all runners

Hastings Half Marathon

Sunday was not a bad day for the 30th Hastings Half Marathon.  The day started bright, only a slight breeze & not too cold.  (Later when we drove home, there were hail showers, but I hope everyone had finished by then).

I’d bumped in to Mick Dee & his good lady a few days before in Forest Row where he lives and I work, so I knew they would be attending.  But I didn’t see him on the day, neither did I see Natasha.

Duncan Blackburn beat me at 1:48, but I was happy with my time.

Chip times from the web site were:

Duncan Blackburn 1:49:29
Dave English         1:51:58
Natasha Heasman 2:16:15
Michael Dee           2:41:24
Jennifer Cobby      3:22:46
Cynthia Dee          3.36.09

Breezy Chichester 10K

On a dry day, but with a cold wind, the route took in 1 lap of the NE segment of the city, on a lovely course over a slightly undulating route on a mixture of rural and urban roads.

The start was in College Lane, going out to Westhampnett roundabout, then round Goodwood airfield, the last 2 Km on Lavant Road which is downhill, so a nice speedy finish.  The final approach to the finish was through the main car park entrance, due to renovation work at Chichester Festival Theatre.

It was not the balmiest of days for the Chichester 10k today, but we can’t grumble.  Mick Dee was the only other jogger there, he said he hadn’t run for a while, so would be happy just to get round.  The back two miles into a wind from the West gusting to 40mph+ wasn’t as bad as I had feered it might be & rain held off.

I also said hello to Mark Greet running for Horsham Joggers & during the race chatted with Terry Bourne, running in other colours.

Results

Dave ENGLISH – 51:15

Michael DEE     – 1:06:41

Only sorry not see more Joggers there.

Crowborough 10k

It was a rather cold run, I think the ford was unusually popular for once, as there wasn’t too much water flowing and the muddy track to the bridge at the side looked pretty uninviting! I’m not too quick at the moment, but I was happy with my time in the circumstances.
