South Downs Marathon

Mark 2012Congratulations to Mark and Hugh who completed the tough South Downs Marathon again this year. The route is linear, from Slindon to the Queen Elizabeth Park adjacent to the A3 – and of course it follows the undulations of theHugh 2012 South Downs Way – all 5728ft of elevation! It’s no consolation that you descend about the same distance, its the ‘up’ that matters! Well done both.

A ‘bad day at the office’ in terms of my time. I just wasn’t up for it beforehand for some reason – I even put my running vest on back-to-front – and it was quite hot and very hard underfoot. Nevertheless it’s a great event with stunning views and slick organisation.

I’d emphasise that 5728′ of ascent! Not a normal ‘office’ Hugh, but credit for being there and taking part!
