Will Page 10k – Grand Prix
Run mainly on scenic, undulating roads south of Newick, this year will see the 23rd running of this race.
The first race was held on September 19th 1993 as part of the fundraising programme for the Sports Pavilion extension on George V Playing Field, Newick. Will Page, a keen runner and sportsman, was just starting to organise the event when he was tragically killed in a road accident. The race went ahead in Will’s name and has been held every year since then.
In 2001 the Newick Will Page 10k was included in the Sussex Road Racing Grand Prix for the first time and was held on the now customary Sunday of the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The race is open to all runners over 16 and offers trophies for the winners of the men’s and ladies’ open and men’s and ladies’ veteran categories and the Page family donate a trophy to the first member of a Newick sports club to finish. All finishers receive a medal.
