THE ROUTE

The start and finish is at Dunsfold Aerodrome at the end of the runway used for parking.  The route leaves the airfield after two miles and turns left through country lanes to the pretty village of Dunsfold and the surrounding area before returning to the aerodrome through the South gate. This event is two laps.

The route is undulating with plenty of flat bits and the odd short, sharp hill.  Water stations are plentiful and are spaced approximately 3 miles apart (water is served in cups).  Powerbar energy will be available at the 5/15 mile water stations and jelly babies will be available at all water stations.   Download a route map here.

RACE HQ

Dunsfold Aerodrome has a distinguished history.  Established with the onset of WWII it is credited as the site of the development of the Harrier, Hawk and Hunter aircraft. It is now probably best know as the home of BBC One’s Top Gear. Toilets and Showers are available as well as limited bag storage.  Please come ready to race as there are no changing facilities.

Run to Live, our shopping partner will be open for last minute nutrition and plenty of other goodies.  The lovely ladies from Girlguiding Surrey East are bringing along their stall, serving tea, coffee and snacks.  Team Fine Fettle with be there with a massage team to massage your aches away for a small fee (donated to charity).

HEALTH & SAFETY

There is no doubt that this course is challenging. You need to be fit and well to start this race.

Do not run the race if you feel unwell or have recently been unwell, even if you are raising money for charity. Most medical emergencies during races occur in people who have been unwell but do not wish to miss the event. If you feel feverish, have been vomiting, have had severe diarrhoea or any chest pains, or otherwise feel unwell, then it is unfair to you, your family, your charity and the race support staff to risk serious illness and become a medical emergency. You are unlikely to do yourself justice, and there are many other races that you will be able to compete in.

*Please note, in the interest of safety, MP3 players and similar devices using headphones will not be allowed. You will be disqualified if you are seen to use them.* Our insurance covers you for public liability only. Please be aware you are responsible for your own personal injury insurance cover.

GETTING THERE & PARKING

Dunsfold aerodrome is situated near Cranleigh, Surrey.  Please note, access is through the North Gate off Stovolds Hill. *If you use Satellite Navigation Systems they will direct you to the wrong gate*. You can view directions to Dunsfold Aerodrome here.  There will be no access from the Compass Gate on the South side.  It does take a little time to get people through the gate and to the parking area so please leave plenty of time to get there.  There is plenty of car parking on site situated near to the start.

RACE START

The start is at the South end of the Aerodrome at the end of the runway used for parking and is a five minute walk from the car park.

RACE PHOTOGRAPHY
