SUMMARY:Lewes 10k Fun Run
DESCRIPTION:Starting on the athletics track at Lewes Leisure Centre this multi-terrain 10k race heads out towards Kingston before looping back into Lewes\, briefly on paved roads before heading back into the stadium area to finish on the track in style! \nThis is a mostly trail 10k\, which is mainly traffic free using tracks and footpaths to the south of Lewes\, that can vary according to the weather so don’t expect any PB’s\, but its a great run with some lovely scenery and perfect whether you’re an old hand or it’s your first Fun Run! \n10.40 am 1 mile juniors’ run \n11.00 am 10K \nRefreshments\, changing and showers all available. SUMMARY:Great Walstead 5 - Fun Run
DESCRIPTION:This is a lovely run\, which was new to the Fun Run League last year. Take part entirely off road at Great Walstead School in Lindfield. It’s 8km – so slightly short of 5 miles in old money – with a junior 1.5km race at 10:00am. \nThe main race course is two laps of a scenic route through the extensive woodlands behind the school\, and is entirely on footpaths and tracks. It will be fully marshalled by members of the Harriers\, and a team of volunteers will be providing tea\, coffee and range of refreshments for runners and their supporters. \nIt’s a great addition to the calendar and a fabulous run.

DESCRIPTION:Organised by fellow HJ Mark Friend-James rather than Hugh as this is HIS territory! The description below is from Mark himself\, and this has been both a brilliant run and a brilliant pub for the last few years! Dogs very welcome but please note the comments below\, especially about the ponies now on Cissbury. \n“The route I have designed is approx. 5 ½ miles in length. It starts in Findon Village and consists of a 4 ½ miles of trail/track with a final 1 mile road descent back into the village. To start we will run past the famous Findon stables & gallops (where Aldiniti was trained to win the 1981 Grand National – remember the film “Champions with John Hurt“) which is a steady climb before flattening out and joining the track to Cissbury (which is part of the Stinger Marathon and 3 Forts course). We are going to then run on a single track that loops around the back of Cissbury Ring before cutting right through its centre where we head for the trig point at the summit with two fantastic team photo opportunities. We then drop down a single track that takes us to the foot of Cissbury Ring\, run along the base before making a short climb to the top car park before dropping back down along the tarmac road that takes us past the green where the sheep fair is held and back to the pub for a bite to eat. \nApart from the road which is really perfect for running on\, the trail will have the usual trips hazards\, pot holes\, loose rocks\, flint\, roots and can be slippery in places. It is very dry at the moment but I always wear my trail shoes. \nIf bringing dogs please note some of the fields do have sheep\, cows and the horse paddocks can be easily accessed. Also there are now ponies roaming freely around Cissbury so PLEASE bring leads\, control your dogs\, and please pick up dog poop along the way. \nI hope the Joggers enjoy the course. It takes in some great views all the way (Chanctonbury\, Brighton & The Isle of Wight maybe if clear night and apart from a climb at the start and to the summit is one that will test with a smile on our faces.” \n \n  \nThey prepare the dining room which is next to the garden for the Joggers. When we return from the run we can go in there or sit in the garden if we wish. \nIf we can try and get the food ordered before we go it would be preferred\, as that way when we return between 8.15- 8.30 we can chill out before the food is brought to us. \nParking is limited at the pub to 10-12 cars but there is street and road parking close by.
