History

Our first run as a club was on 1st April 1990.  From 6 runners then, the club has inexorably grown to its present size of nearly one hundred and thirty runners of all abilities.

From when we were established to the present day we have always aimed to be a welcoming Club, where the slowest runner and the fastest are treated and respected equally. We aim to have fun both running and socially.

Our members are involved in a number of events; including road running, cross-country and triathlons. Many of us take part in organised races both locally and in various parts of the UK [and World!], and we are especially involved in the Sussex Grand Prix races and also the West Sussex Fun Run League, for which we organise our own event, the Henfield Seven Stiles, each September.

However running races is absolutely NOT compulsory, and just getting the therapeutic benefits of having a gentle jog and chat on a regular basis is many peoples favourite, and long may it continue!

We are affiliated to England Athletics which means that we qualify for one or more entries to the London Marathon which we raffle to interested members. This also provides us with Insurance via UK Athletics.

The Club has runners of all standards, from complete beginners to experienced marathon and Ultra distances. We pride ourselves on being a sociable club covering all ages and abilities, and welcome everyone, regardless of ability.
